Circle of Ancestors is a non-profit founded by Marcela Sabin, Atava Garcia Swiecicki and Heidi Guttmann.  We are graduates of a Master's program in Indigenous Mind, a remembrance process founded by Native American Elder, Dr. Apela Colorado.  We are an inter-cultural community that connects people with their own ancestral traditions through educational programs, experiential learning, ceremonies and other activities.

This reconnection heals and balances, encourages respect for differences and recognition of similarities, deepens community and environmental bonds and promotes peace.

Watch our new video of Dr. Apela Colorado at our November 2nd, 2007 presentation on the March 22nd Sacred Fire ceremony that reawakens the European Indigenous Mind

Flower Healing

In March, I journeyed to the Anza Borrego Desert outside of San Diego, California. I was joyful to be around the plants of my desert dwelling ancestors. Here is one of the most important plants that I encountered: Chaparral is...

Footbinding, Part I: A Short History

Footbinding was a fashion, a fad that went horribly, horribly wrong. It started about 1,000 years ago when a dancer with small feet performed in the Chinese imperial court atop a giant lotus sculpture. Women in the court started binding...

Deep Genealogy goes beyond statistical research and reconnects you to the spirit of your ancestors.  The ancestors are an integral part of the research; their spirits are guiding and informing the process.

Deep Genealogy is based on the principles of indigenous science.  Research methods are holistic and include information from the spiritual, natural and dream worlds.

As in the world's most ancient traditions, Deep Genealogy honors the ancestors.  It resacralizes the research process; transforming it from the dry and statistical into a spiritual journey.
